Tucked away just two miles from Galway city is the five-star Glenlo Abbey Hotel, in vast acres of rich, lush, scenery on the banks of Lough Corrib. The abbey is the ancestral home to one of Galway’s famous tribes, the Ffrench family. The graceful, gothic, two-storey house was built in 1740, with the abbey itself being constructed in the 1790s as a private church for the family. In the 1980s, the house and estate were bought, restored, and converted, transforming it into a unique hotel....

Michael Safarik, Head Chef at Glenlo Abbey Hotel has just launched the new Summer Menu aboard the Pullman Restaurant. Recently awarded 2 AA Rosettes for culinary excellence and Best Private Dining with the Restaurant Association of Ireland, Michael has crafted a show–stopper of a menu for diners this Summer.
Inspired by the quality of local produce and foraged ingredients. Michael reconnects with food and flavours growing around us - gathered on the estate and further afield. Foraged on the West Coast, this menu is a joyful expression of what this region has to offer

The Pullman Restaurant won the 9th annual RAI (Restaurant Association of Ireland) National Award for the Best Private Dining and Club Restaurant.

Glenlo Abbey Hotel has welcomed a new award winning Head Chef in April, Alan McArdle.  Having previously worked in some of Ireland’s top hotels and restaurant including, Moy House Lahinch, The G Hotel Galway, Harvey Nicholls Dublin, Bijou Restaurant Dublin, La Mere Zou and L’Ecrivain, Alan brings a depth of knowledge and flair to the kitchens at Glenlo Abbey.

This year the festive package includes a three night stay inviting guests to arrive on Christmas Eve,  Thursday, December 24th and depart on Sunday, December 27th. 

Lady Captain’s Day was held on Sunday July 12th.  The course was in perfect condition and received great compliments from our visitors.  Over 60 players took part - including twelve of our “Get into Golf” ladies - and the weather was perfect.

We are delighted to welcome Ian Kearney onboard as Head Coach at the Gary Madden Golf Academy. 

Ian has joined us from Trump International Golf Links in Doonbeg and is great addition to the team. 

The new Palmer Bar at Glenlo Abbey, situated just off the Ffrench Room offers guests a quiet retreat with views overlooking the terrace and 18th Century Abbey. 

The Palmer Bar is so called after the Palmer Family who purchased Glenlo in 1897. 

Throughout the year Glenlo Abbey Hotel will host and support a number of fundraising events. 

Rory a native of Kenmare in Kerry is no stranger to 5* service  and attention to detail having worked alongside the Brennan Brothers - John & Francis of ‘At Your Service’ fame for the last 8 years as General Manager of The Park Hotel Kenmare. Prior to that Rory worked as General Manager of the 4* Castle Hotel Macroom in Cork and also spent time in Dubai, France and Australia. Whilst in Dubai Rory worked with the Jumeirah group of hotels and spent time in the flagship hotel the Burj Al Arab. Galway man Gerard Lawless is Executive Chairman of the Jumeirah Group.
