Glenlo Abbey Hotel’s Pullman restaurant, Galway was named Ireland's Fine Dining Restaurant at the Gold Medal Awards in association with Hotel & Catering Review magazine on Tuesday September 26th.
Evoke.ie Editor and Gold Medal Awards Judge, Sybil Mulcahy said: "The calibre of entries this year was incredible and we are delighted to see such a strong offering in our hospitality industry – it bodes extremely well for the tourism sector and for our economy as a whole.”

Tucked away just two miles from Galway city is the five-star Glenlo Abbey Hotel, in vast acres of rich, lush, scenery on the banks of Lough Corrib. The abbey is the ancestral home to one of Galway’s famous tribes, the Ffrench family. The graceful, gothic, two-storey house was built in 1740, with the abbey itself being constructed in the 1790s as a private church for the family. The Five Star, multi-award winning Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Golf Course, Galway is pleased to announce a major €5 million development programme which will see an increase to the current bedroom count of 50 to 65 rooms, extension of both the existing Golf Club House facilities and the existing Banqueting facilities in the Corrib Suite plus the launch of a new Luxury Spa with sunken garden including leisure and pool facilities, opening in 2018. The new programme will also benefit existing ground floor bedrooms at the hotel which will now include private external terraces for added enjoyment of the beautiful grounds at Glenlo Abbey. 5* Glenlo Abbey Hotel appoints Rory O’ Sullivan as New General Manager

Rory a native of Kenmare in Kerry is no stranger to 5* service and attention to detail having worked alongside the Brennan Brothers - John & Francis of ‘At Your Service’ fame for the last 8 years as General Manager of The Park Hotel Kenmare. Prior to that Rory worked as General Manager of the 4* Castle Hotel Macroom in Cork and also spent time in Dubai, France and Australia. Whilst in Dubai Rory worked with the Jumeirah group of hotels and spent time in the flagship hotel the Burj Al Arab. Galway man Gerard Lawless is Executive Chairman of the Jumeirah Group.
