The Pullman Restaurant at the five star Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Estate, Galway, has been awarded 2 AA Rosettes in recognition of their culinary excellence. Set aboard two carriages from the iconic Orient Express, the restaurant offers a unique dining experience as well as spectacular views across the Glenlo Abbey estate to nearby Lough Corrib.
Alan McArdle joined Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Golf Course as Head Chef in April 2015 and has quickly gained a great reputation for his exceptional food. “Our menus showcase the best seasonal, local produce with all ingredients 100% traceable from farm to fork including the fresh herbs from our Glenlo garden. For me seasonal produce is the key to great taste and quality which allows us to take pride in our unique dining experience”, said Alan McArdle, Head Chef.
The AA has been awarding Rosettes since 1955, which are awarded annually to hotels producing fine cuisine. There are only 40 restaurants in Ireland which currently have the award offering an insightful guide to diners on where to eat and so Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Golf Course is incredibly proud of this coveted accolade. AA Rosettes are awarded solely for the quality of the restaurant’s cooking that demonstrates consistent standards of all dishes on the menus. To specifically achieve an AA Rosette Award, innovation, greater technical skills, consistency and judgement in combining and balancing ingredients are required. Rosettes are only awarded to those restaurants, which aim for and achieve higher standards. They must exhibit greater precision in their cooking and selection of quality ingredients.

The Pullman Restaurant aboard The Orient Express at Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Golf Course is open 7 days a week from March – October from 6.30pm and throughout November to February on Friday and Saturday nights with alternative dining options in the newly refurbished River Room restaurant. Guests can look forward to some exceptional food matched with a unique dining experience this autumn/winter season.
