Fishing on Glenlo Abbey Estate

Our team are happy to assist you in planning such an activity. Guided fishing ghillie packages can be arranged directly at reception. Fishing rods and life jacket provided, just bring you own rain-gear.
Lough Corrib offers a plentiful supply of Trout, Salmon, Pike, Perch and Bream making it a haven for the keenest of fishermen or ladies!
Under social distancing guidelines fishing boats currently can only accommodate one guest plus ghillie, all equipment is sanitised before and after each use.
Learn how to tie your own flies, cast your rod, and learn what is precious to all fishermen……Patience.
For lunch why not stop off at one of the 365 Islands of the Corrib, and explore the serene flora and fauna of the sanctuary of the islands.
Brown Trout: 15th Feb. - 30th Sept.
Sea Trout: 1st June - 30th Sept.
Salmon: 1st Feb. - 30th Sept.
This Bye-law provides for a daily bag limit of 4 trout of which not more than 1 trout is greater than 10 lbs (4.54 kgs), and prohibits -
(a) the taking of trout less than 13 inches (33 cm),
(b) the use of more than 1 rod or 4 artificial flies when fly fishing,
(c) the use of more than 1 rod when dapping,
(d) the use of more than 2 rods or 4 artificial flies per rod when trolling,
(e) the use of more than 2 rods when bait fishing or spinning, and
(f) the having on board a boat more than 3 rods when more than 1 person is bait fishing, spinning or trolling.
